As we say "The Most Primitive is Always Contemporary." A form born 4,000 years ago feels more relevant today than ever. Since 1980, Takaomi Izawa, my grandfather has been creating Dogu and Haniwa. Dogu Nova was established to keep this craft alive, and to explore a new aesthetic we call Ancient Contemporary — primitive forms that feel more contemporary than anything made today.
